Mandate:

The Department of Finance and Administration, exists to ensure that there is a conducive work environment for the staff to deliver optimum services to both internal and external clients through provision of support services in the areas of administration and establishment, management of financial resource and manpower development.

It also facilitates the efficient and effective utilization of human, financial and material resources in the Ministry. In addition, the department facilitates the political leadership in the Ministry specified under Circular Standing Instruction No. 2 of 2000 and No. 4 of 2001 and the former leaders of Uganda as required under the Presidential Emoluments and Benefits Act (1998).

Through the Planning; Policy Analysis and Procurement Units, the Department also supports the Permanent Secretary to coordinate and analyse the cross cutting policy issues on human resource and procurement matters.

Key Activities

  • Manage the provision of accounting and financial services, salaries and wages, book keeping and expenditure, budget and project accounts.
  • Assist the Permanent Secretary with the preparation and production of the annual budget estimates.
  • Manage the provision of human resource services to the ministry.
  • Manage the provision, maintenance and allocation of buildings, offices, registry, office equipment and stationary, transport and travel, cleaning and building security.
The Department is composed of six Units/ Sections.
