The Africa Public Service Day (APSD), Uganda Chapter, was commemorated on Friday June 30th, 2017 at Kololo Ceremonial Grounds under the customised theme: “The Role of PAIPAS in Entrenching Citizen-Centered Service Delivery Culture: Partnering with Youth for Uganda’s Transformation.
The chief Guest was the Rt. Hon. 2nd Deputy Prime Minister who represented the Rt. Hon. Prime Minister and was joined by other dignitaries that included the Hon. Minister of Public Service, the Hon. Minister of State for Public Service, the Chairperson of the Equal Opportunities Commission and Secretaries to Service Commissions among others.
The major activities of APSD, Uganda Chapter included:
Awareness and Publicity which was a week-long activity from 26 – 30 June 2017 on different media platforms (TV/Radio Talk-Shows).
Football and Netball Matches to held on 27/06/2017 at Makerere University Main Playing Ground where the Hon. Minister of State for Public Service was the Guest of Honour. The following matches were held on that day:

MoEMD & MoPS.
UPDF & Uganda Public Service
APSD Walk on the morning of 30/06/2017 with the Hon. Minister of State for Public Service as the Chief Walker. The walk led by the Uganda Police Force Brass Band from the Ministry of Public Service Headquarters to Kololo Ceremonial Grounds. A number of Government Ministries, Agencies and Departments participated in the walk and they were joined by some school children.
Exhibition by different MDAs and LGs on 30/06/2017 at the Kololo Ceremonial Grounds where they showcased different products and services.
Presentation on the main theme of the Day was made by the Secretary, Health Service Commission.
Release of PAIPAS Results for 2015/2016 and awarding best performing Institutions. Under the Local Government Category, Kamwenge, Mityana and Kyenjojo received the Gold, Silver and Bronze awards respectively while Jinja Regional Referral Hospital, Uganda Aids Commission and Nurses & Mid Wives Council received the Gold, Silver and Bronze awards respectively under the Health Sector Institutions Category.
