MINISTRY ORGANIZED SECRETARIAL CADRE FORUM ENDS AT CIVIL SERVICE COLLEGE- JINJA

by Mundua Patrick / 09 September 2019 / Published in Featured, General, News

The forum of secretarial cadre ended with a call on the participants to embrace work ethics that are professional.

Thomas Ojok the Commissioner Human Resource Development at the Ministry of Public service sounded the call while delivering a paper on the need to professionalize the secretarial cadre staff in government as the only means to achieve the desired goal of diversifying their skills and career growth in respective  institutions.

Commissioner emphasized on Policy Framework, Cost of Lack of Patriotism and The Patriot’s role. “One who loves their country and their every action is in order to keep the pride of the country… respects everyone but cannot just walk away when someone disrespects their country “

Commissioner Ojok retaliated the need for the cadre to look beyond their routine schedule of duties and adapt to other skills that will see them take on different roles in the running of their institutions The role of ethics in Secretarial function would not be complete without the important issue of discrimination, such as those based on religion, sex, handicap, race, physical attributes, sexual orientation, political affiliations, or even something as trivial as the sports team a prospective employee supports. Sometimes, the decision about whom to assist depends more on the inclinations of a Secretary than on the needs.

Assistant commissioner Sam Eitu said that secretaries are advocates of the Secretarial profession by engaging in activities that enhance its capability and value and hence, Secretarial Professionals should: strive to meet the highest standard of competence and commit to strengthen your competencies on a continuous basis;

“You are ethically responsible for promoting and fostering fairness and justice for all employees and their organizations. Any organization where the financial management processes are not firmly rooted in ethics will eventually suffer in terms of incompetent employees and a reduction or lack of fulfillment in production capacity,” he emphasized.

 Secretarial Professionals, you are responsible for adding value to the Ministries ,Departments and Agencies  you serve and contributing to ethical success of those organizations You should accept professional The role of ethics in Secretarial function would not be complete without the important issue of discrimination, such as those based on religion, sex, handicap, race, physical attributes, sexual orientation, political affiliations, or even something as trivial as the sports team  a prospective employee supports.
