On Monday, September 1, 2025, Mrs. Catherine Bitarakwate Musingwiire, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Public Service, officially launched the harmonization exercise for the joint wage, pension, and gratuity budget for Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) as well as Local Governments (LGs) for the 2025/2026 financial year. This event took place at the Main Boardroom of the National Archives and Records Centre (NARC) and is set to continue from September 1 to September 23, 2025, commencing daily at 9:00 AM as per programmed schedules.

The initiative aims to bring together Responsible Officers, District Planners, and Heads of Human Resource Management from MDAs and LGs to facilitate effective management of the wage, pension, and gratuity budget for FY 2025/2026 while also minimizing unnecessary liabilities for the Government. Outcomes from this exercise will guide wage-related decisions, including the approval for recruitment and integration of newly recruited employees into the payroll for FY 2024/2025.

Furthermore, participants in the exercise engaged in various activities, including hands-on analyses of wages, pensions, and gratuities, as well as budgeting for FY 2026/2027.
