The Ministry of Public Service commemorated the International World AIDS Day (WAD) – 1st December, 2021 at the Ministry Headquarters from 9:30am to 1:30pm.
This year’s World AIDS Day commemoration was celebrated under the theme “End Stigma, End AIDS, End Pandemics” as emphasized by The Minister of Public Service Hon. Wilson Muruli Mukasa during his Speech “It is a very important theme in light of the fact that over the last 3 decades the world has been faced with the HIV/AIDS pandemic which has greatly impacted on our being as a people affecting the socio-economic fabric of our families, communities and countries across the world. It has continued to cause a lot of morbidity, stigma amongst our population as well as affecting productivity of the labour force and constraining economic development by having a tall order on the resources that would otherwise be committed to furtherance prosperity amongst nations”.
The Minister further emphasized through his prayer that we take all necessary precautions to avert any chance of getting infected and re-infecting others as HIV/AIDS remain a threat to humanity. The Ministry despite the challenges of the pandemics will continue to champion the transformation agenda aimed at building an efficient and effective service We shall keep the fight against HIV/AIDS on course and we have the confidence that all is not lost and the fight will continue until we are victorious with God on our side.
