Catherine Bitarakwate Musingwiire (Mrs.), the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Public Service, officially opened the Virtual Pre-Retirement Training organized by the Department of Compensation, Ministry of Public Service, emphasizing the government’s commitment to preparing public officers for retirement. She highlighted the importance of this initiative, in line with the Uganda Public Service Standing Orders 2021, to ensure a smooth transition into retirement. She encouraged active participation from attendees to gain valuable insights for effective retirement planning. She expressed confidence that this training would equip participants with the necessary skills and knowledge for a prosperous post-service life. The two-day virtual training was declared officially open.
The training covers essential topics such as demystifying retirement, the exit policy of the public service, determination of retirement benefits, and highlights of the Public Service Pension Fund Act, 2025, with presentations delivered by multiple speakers, including Ms. Maureen Mbabazi, Senior Human Resource Officer; Mr. Joseph Balikuddembe, Senior Human Resource Officer; and Mr. Amori Moses Sebbi, Assistant Commissioner of Human Resource Management, Ministry of Public Service. The session concluded with a robust exchange of ideas, fostering discussions and sharing experiences between both the speakers and the participants.
