CIVIL SERVICE COLLEGE- JINJA INDUCTION PROGRAM SHINES IN NAMUTUMBA DISTRICT- DAMALIE WAKIRWAINE SENIOR HUMAN RESOURCES OFFICER BECOMES MILLIONAIRE THROUGH FISH FARMING

by Mundua Patrick / 30 September 2019 / Published in Featured, General, News

Damalie Wakirwaine is a Senior Human Resource Officer who is a beneficiary of the induction program by the Civil service college in early 2015. Little did Wakirwaine thought of getting any other skills other than the usual office etiquette and code of conduct for public Officers in government.

During the induction there was a module about how a public Officer could find interest and morale to work with the little pay from government. It was an interesting topic she recalls that one of the facilitators by name Ronnie introduced and at first looked like the usual things, nothing out of the ordinary., until when he mentioned the role of a side income project after work that every public Officer needed to embrace. Damalie says she listened with a pinch of salt every word of the facilitator.

She took the idea seriously after the the induction , she went and started small with orange seedlings potting them for sale to farmers. With her support from the parents who had some experience coupled t with her little earning from her monthly saving potted 20,000 seedlings. Soon or later Operational wealth creation program started promoting citrus growing in the district. She landed the first contract to supply 50,000 orange seedlings .

It was alike a dream but it was true money had found its way to Damalie with the 20,000 seedling already available she only needed to 30,000 seedlings to meet the contract . She was excited shared it with her brother at home and the parents and the 30,000 seedlings were secured from them to add up to 50,000 seedlings. This was her first journey to make money in millions of shillings. She was paid a check of about 45 million shillings she could not believe but it was her money. STORY to continue……………
